He gave a firm commitment before the people of Bodoland that their fight against the enemy will be continuing till they achieve their long cherished goal, ‘Bodoland Independence’. The interim president said they have resolved to wage an armed struggle for national liberation which is an appropriate response to the daunting challenges. “Before starting the armed confrontation, we had resorted to the democratic method of civil resistance but contrary to our expectations, all such democratic endeavours turned out to be futile exercise, which rather, helped consolidating the alien rule over ourselves and thereby hastening our demise as a viable nation”, he said. But this is not true”, he said adding– NDFB always respect and will continue to respect any caste, community and religion as per their manifesto. The NDFB (S) said the Bodo nation is facing serious problems or formidable challenges. He said immigration is a gigantic challenge which needs immediate, effective and objective response from them. “We have become minority in our own homeland, and the percentage of our indigenous population is declining, thanks to unchecked infiltration. Lingering cultural backwardness, despite the amazing rise in literacy rate in recent years, is also a challenge, demanding urgent response from us to be able to keep pace with this runaway post modern world”, he said. Underdevelopment and failure to develop productive forces of their society are also titanic challenges threatening their survival as a community; he said adding that withering away of their national identity giving a free reign to cultural assimilation by Aryan India is an existential threat to them. He also said the social disintegration and lack of trust is a challenge capable to annihilate their community as well as lack of strong leadership is also a major problem afflicting their society.
