NEW PROTEST - PLEASE READ AND ENSURE YOU SHARE WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. We will meet outside the Court house on the 10th Dec Commencement time: 8am. Deputies should arrive for 9am. We want well over 3,000 people this time around. Theres no reason why 10,000 cant attend ! Coffee, Tea, Bacon Baps will be served The event will be vocal, but peaceful. All the garages on the Island are pretty much shutting down for the morning, just running on skeleton staff. We hope every business will do the same. The Width & Emission tax will be voted on. It will either be voted in our out. It is essential you share this message with as many of your Facebook and real world friends as possible and insist they join you in attending. There is no point moaning or being a keyboard warrior, direct action is what is required. Bring your hat and brolly and join what we hope will be one of Guernseys most important protest....EVER ! Ask your Boss or manager for a few hours off in the morning, promise to make it up later or on another day. If these taxes get passed, it will effect everyone, jobs will be lost. Even people buying a tiny Hyunda i10 1.2 litre Auto will pay a crazy £800 emissions tax. Is that fair? Its not exactly a V8 fuel guzzler. Anyone buying a standard, Mini, VW golf, Fiat Abarth, Ford Focus or other standard family car will be hit with width and Emission taxes. People who need horse boxes to tow trailers, people with larger families, nannies and child carers, all of who need larger vehicles - you could see your next NEW OR USED vehicle costing you up to £5,600 more than youd budgeted for ! SOME VEHICLES ARE SET TO DOUBLE / TRIPLE / QUADRUPLE IN PRICE UNDER THESE NEW PROPOSALS. NO ONE WANTS TO BUY A £2,500 MPV AND END UP PAYING £7,000+ FOR IT BY THE TIME ITS ON THE ROADS IN GUERNSEY !!! INSURANCE COMPANIES WILL ONLY PAY OUT BOOK VALUES IF YOUR CAR GETS DAMAGED, EITHER THROUGH YOUR OWN FAULT OR SOMEONE ELSES ! MEANING YOU COULD FIND YOURSELF £1,000S IN NEGATIVE EQUITY. FINANCE COMPANIES WILL ONLY LEND ON WHAT A CAR IS WORTH, NOT ON AN ARTIFICIAL VALUE, DICTATED BY THE WIDTH AND CO2 VALUES PROPOSED BY THE STATES OF GUERNSEY. SO YOU MAY NEVER BE ABLE TO AFFORD THAT NICE NEW CAR YOUVE ALWAYS PROMISED YOURSELF. This is a fight for common sense. Is it fair that any hard working company or self employed person has to pay up to £2,000 on a new or second hand van (when brought in from the UK), yet they need them to earn a living. Stand and be counted, stop being fleeced and taken to the cleaners by an Environment minister that has openly said she is dedicated to converting everyone to her Eco ways. She truly believes that everyone should use the bus, drive smart cars and walk or cycle, irrelevant of your job, how many kids you have or whether it is practical. T&R have said the money will not be going to them. YOU the nasty car driver will be paying for her eco buses, as in their wisdom, they are making all buses free losing over £1.5m of cash that could be invested in a better bus service by charging a sensible £1. And to top it off. The Policy document shows that Co2 Emissions have fallen dramatically since 2000 in transport and overall. The biggest Co2 polluter in Guernsey is the Power Station and our beloved Cows, yet we dont see local farmers being taxed..........yet ! Its time to stand up and SHOUT...... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every single person living and working in Guernsey who drives a car needs to attend. Everyone who attended the North Beach protest.........it is your job, it is your duty to bring along, kicking and screaming, all of your friends. Explain to them how this will affect them. Many people seem to think this wont affect them, whereas we are clearly proving it will MASSIVELY AFFECT EVERYONE ON THE ISLAND. The deputies are doing a sterling job at pulling the wool over peoples eyes here. We must not let them win on this occasion. PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO GET EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO ATTEND. ROYAL COURT - 8AM - 10 - 12 - 14 - WE CANT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU ! BE THERE !
