NEW STANFORD NANOSCAVENGERS COULD USHER IN NEXT GENERATION WATER PURIFICATION Titanium dioxide, or silver, is known to attract heavy and pollutants. While environmental engineers have wanted to use nanoscale particles of silver to disinfect and depollute water, it has not been possible due to the fact the “nanoscavengers” could not be recovered from the water. A team of engineers at Stanford University have recently developed a new type of nanoscavenger with a synthetic core that is extremely responsive to magnetism, allowing for easy recovery of nearly every nanoscale particle.
