NEW YORK JOB OPPORTUNITY: PART TIME PROGRAM FACILITATOR: LEAVE OUT VIOLENCE (LOVE) Leave Out Violence-U.S. (LOVE), is a non-profit 501(c)3 agency located in Manhattan, NY, with the mission to reduce violence in the lives of youth and our communities by building a team of youth leaders who communicate a message of non-violence. LOVE-U.S. youth develop the skills to express their emotions and become spokespeople against violence as they learn and use photography, film making, visual art, poetry, and journalism to raise their voices and visions against violence. The Part-time Program Facilitator will assist in the development and implementation of program content primarily for the school-based programs of LOVE-U.S. These programs include 5-Week Outreaches and After-School Media Arts After Programs (12-25 weeks). Candidates will need to be available 9 to 15 hours/week (from October-May), Mondays through Thursdays, during school hours and after-school hours. The Part-Time Program Facilitator will be supervised by and report directly to the Program Director and Program Coordinator. There is a strong possibility the candidate will facilitate gender-based programming for boys. LOVE- U.S. staff, youth alumni and youth leaders help students examine the causes and consequences of violence, with a focus on masculinity, and explore violence prevention strategies through photography, film-making, poetry, journaling and rich discussions. Specific Duties Include: Coordinate and plan in tandem with Program Staff (including Program Facilitators, Coordinator and Director) program curricula and events; Co-facilitate school-based programs that are strongly based on social group work, anti-oppression theory, and violence reduction; Work with LOVE youth to present, exhibit, screen or perform their work; Software editing of youths’ photography and/or filmmaking work; Communicate with school personnel; Design, implement and manage media activities and short to mid-term projects; Assist with field trips and events; Willingness to travel between boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens). Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, art therapy, theatre, or relevant field (candidates who are currently working towards a degree will also be considered); Experience with, and an understanding of social group work theory; Strong organizational, writing, verbal and interpersonal skills; Experience working with diverse urban youth; One or more years experience working with at-risk youth preferred Interest and experience with digital photography, visual art, film making and editing, poetry and/or Training and efficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and/or Final Cut Express, a plus Compensation: Hourly compensation will be based on experience and comparable to an early to mid-level worker in the field.
