* NEW * design: The Capitol at Colonial Williamsburg. Danforths Annual Williamsburg Ornament for 2014 is a detailed replica of the original Capitol building. It was designed and made in our Vermont workshop. In this photo collection you can see the process of how the ornament was made. Beginning with an original idea or concept, a line drawing is done on the computer where each layer of the final piece is considered. This line drawing is then converted into a three dimensional rendering which is transferred to a program where the cutting paths can be generated. Once that file is complete, an original model is cut into a material best suited to the needs of the design. This particular model was cut in a yellow resin composite that reproduces detail rather well. From here a first generation mold is made to produce a master model. Once this model is approved a series of production models are cast and finished by hand. The final generation of molds are made to cast the finished pieces you will find in our retail stores. Exclusively available at our store on Duke of Gloucester Street, Williamsburg, Virginia.
