NEWPORT, Ark. — Arkansas State University-Newport announced Friday that Nancy Weaver has been named as the new Director of Nursing and Allied Health at the two-year college. The Director of Nursing and Allied Health is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the institution’s nursing and allied health programs. Weaver has worked in numerous medical settings during her career, including medical/surgical, public health, case management and clinical nursing instruction. She previously served as a Clinical Instructor for the ASUN Nursing program and has served for the past 15 years in various managerial capacities. Weaver earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Arkansas State University and her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. “I am very excited to be a part of ASU-Newport and this great Arkansas State University system,” said Weaver. “Having the opportunity to contribute to the students’ achievement of their educational goals is so rewarding. I am looking forward to providing the leadership that will allow us to continue to change the lives of our students and ultimately, deliver exceptional health care in our communities.” Arkansas State University offers an Associate of Science-Nursing (LPN-RN) degree and a Technical Certificate in Surgical Technology on its Newport campus, a Technical Certificate in Practical Nursing and a Certificate of Proficiency for its Certified Nursing Assistant program on its campuses in Newport, Jonesboro and Marked Tree and a Certificate of Proficiency in Phlebotomy on the Jonesboro campus
