NEWS BRIEFS ILLEGAL FIRECRACKERS CONFISCATED IN SULTAN KUDARAT TACURONG CITY—At least 28 big boxes of prohibited firecrackers were confiscated during the saturation drive conducted by local police inside the public market here on Tuesday afternoon, a top police official said. Supt. Danny Buenacosa, Tacurong City PNP chief disclosed that the confiscated illegal items cost P100,000 and were secretly sold to city residents and transient buyers coming from adjoining towns. Nine people were also arrested for violation of a municipal ordinance banning the sale of powerful firecrackers. Buenacosa said, banned firecrackers likekamara, pla-pla, whistle bomb, piccolo, and watusi were among the items confiscated during the saturation drive. “The items are all intact and under our custody for exhibits while we released the arrested suspects but filing of charges against them will be on January 5,” Buenacosa said. MAGBANUA) REGION-12 LGUS RECEIVE DA INFRA-LIVELIHOOD GRANTS KORONADAL CITY—The Department of Agriculture-12 has released P63 million to 11 local government units (LGUs) for the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting and Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan or PAMANA. Amalia Jayag-Datukan, DA-12 Regional Executive Director said the amount is part of P118 million approved funds turned over to the town agriculturists of the recipient LGUs. Cotabato City got the highest amount of P12.8M, Midsayap received P12.7M, Lake Sebu, P7.6M; Glan, P7.3; Makilala, P6.1M; Tantangan, P3.9M; T’boli, P3.5M; Lebak, P2.7M; Polomolok, P2.5M; Santo Nino, P2.5M, and Arakan, P1.2M.
