The Aboriginal Housing Accommodation Support Initiative (AHASI) program aims to provide opportunities for Indigenous people to grow and live independently in the community. The program aims to achieve this by encouraging people to be involved in the community by: • Assisting with finding and maintaining accommodation • Providing someone supportive to talk to advocate and assist in daily activities (individually goal orientated) • Encouraging participation in family, friends and community relationships to help them get back on track Being a Team Leader means working with different challenges each day, from providing advice and guidance to Case Workers in the field, to negotiating with other providers and health professionals on suitable activities, reporting on team outcomes and completing administration tasks. You will build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the team, sharing your expertise and being a strong role model through the demonstration of our expectations. As the successful candidate you will have hands-on supervisory experience in the community services field along with relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally you will have experience in the Mental Health sector. You will be a compassionate individual who is dedicated in supporting others to achieve and have exceptional communication, negotiation and problem solving skills; You will have an understanding of the complexity of Aboriginal traditional culture and history, and the impact that culture including social and emotional issues and history has on the provision of health services to Aboriginal clients. All applicants must identify themselves as having Aboriginal identity. Due to the nature of this role, applicants are required to be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. In this role an applicants race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997, as amended. As this role provides support to participants in their community, all our Team Leaders must also have a valid drivers licence and successfully complete an Australian Federal Police Check and Working With Children Check prior to commencing with us.
