NEWS BULLETIN: An 11-year-old boy Front Royal boy escaped serious injury Monday afternoon after colliding with a moving vehicle with his bicycle. Front Royal Police spokesperson Crystal Cline told WZRV news Monday evening that the boy was crossing Bel Air Avenue when he dashed across Sixth Street without looking--in an attempt to catch up with a friend--and crashed his bike into a vehicle that was traveling through town. The child was taken to the hospital as a precaution, though he escaped with only minor abrasions. The driver of the vehicle was not injured nor cited in the incident. Cline says this incident is the second similar bike-motor vehicle accident to occur this spring in Front Royal and is encouraging all parents to have a serious discussion with their children about bike safety, obeying all traffic rules and wearing helmets when riding bikes.
