*NEWS FROM BEPS & BES* It’s Cold Outside! - As you know, the kids spend part of their days playing outside! The school policy is that they will go outside unless it is 15 degrees or below. Please check each morning to make sure that your kids are dressed warmly for the weather. We have also been reminding the kids that they need to wear snow pants if they want to play in the snow. We do have resources available for our students who need snow clothes. Feel free to contact Rob Stafford or Jackie Juliana for more information. Smilemakers - Smilemakers dental services will be at BEPS on Wednesday, Jan. 21 and Thursday, Jan. 22. Please send the consent form back by Tuesday if you would like to have your child included in this clinic. Safety Reminder - This is a reminder that the front parking lot at the elementary school is a one-way. We have several families who are entering the parking lot from the wrong direction. Please help us keep our parking lot safe by entering by the drop-off area only. Thank You! - Thank you to our wonderful PTSA and the Jelly Belly Band for hosting a fabulous dance last week! We had the best turn-out yet, and a great time was had by all! BES & BEPS Recycling Program - Bayfield Elementary Student Council is bringing back the recycling program to help the school, our community and the earth! Student Council members will collect bins every Tuesday from classrooms. To start, our schools will only be recycling paper. The PTSA is willing to pay for the cost of recycling for both of the schools! If you have questions, please contact any BES Student Council member. Happy New Year from the Counseling Department at Bayfield Elementary School! - You’ve made it through the holidays! Congratulations! All of the celebrating during the past several weeks can make getting back to the routine of things in January a bit difficult. The abrupt end to all the stimulation of the holidays can leave us feeling a little dull and empty. This feeling is common and there are a few things you can do to support your kiddos as well as yourself. If appropriate, institute the “less is more” philosophy. Plan fewer extra activities so that you can give activities of daily life a little extra attention. For example, kids may have trouble getting back into the swing of school and homework after winter break. It may be useful to be available to help them, or simply be on hand while they work on homework. Make an extra effort to take care of yourself. Go to bed a bit early, make a veggie smoothie, take a yoga class, schedule in some down time, or do whatever it is that helps you to be at your best. This is good for you AND great for your kids. When parents take care of themselves, they not only model self-care, but they positively impact the emotional state of their kids. Remember we are here to help. It is our pleasure to work with your kids. Contact either one of us with questions or concerns at any time. Best Regards, Ms. J and Mr. Rob Mark Your Calendars! - Monday, January 19: Holiday—No School Thursday, January 22, 3:30 pm-7 pm: Parent/Teacher Conferences Monday, January 26: BESAAC meeting-6:00pm at BES Thursday, January 29, 3:30 pm-7 pm: Parent/Teacher Conferences Friday, January 30, 7:30 am- 3:30 pm: Parent/Teacher Conferences—No School
