NEWS HEADLINES FOR WEDNESDAY 19TH MARCH 2014 Police shot and killed a 24 year old man in Morvant last night. The man, Adrian Charles of Chinapoo, shot at officers who were on mobile patrol in Mapland, Morvant at around 10:45pm. The officers returned fire, shooting Mr. Charles several times. He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Baby Simeon, who died after his head was cut during a C-section on his mother on Carnival Saturday, is to be laid to rest this afternoon. The TTPS has launched a probe into school violence at Mucurapo West Secondary School. This follows the suspension of 10 girls after a fight was videotaped last week. Inspector Wayne Mystar said the Police Service has a zero tolerance on school violence and such incidents will be investigated thoroughly and the necessary action will be taken. Health Minister Dr. Fuad Khan says more and more children in this country are developing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). The Minister made the statement as he sought to promote the second Non-Communicable Disease Child International Conference. Executive Member of the T&T Safety Council, Mr. Ben De La Rosa, has questioned why so little knowledge is imparted to employees and employers regarding the OSH Act.
