NEWS RELEASE – JUDGE RICKHOFF DOESNT GET IT! Wednesday, February 26, 2014 What: Probate Judge Tom Rickhoff spending campaign money on booze AGAIN Who: Judge Tom Rickhoff candidate for Judge, Probate Court No. 2 Contact: Phil Ross for more information or comment at 210/326-2100 (mobile) Dear Brian, Remember the article you wrote, Lawyers giving judges cash typical, troubling that was published in the Express-News on June 2, 2012? Here is the link: mysanantonio/default/article/Lawyers-giving-judges-cash-typical-troubling-3603799.php Well, apparently Judge Tom Rickhoff and the gaggle of probate attorneys with their two bottles of scotch and plenty of beer you wrote about didnt get your message... Yesterday, Judge Rickhoffs 8-day campaign expenditure report showed that he spent $431.06 on more booze at Gabriels Superstore #05-60 for an Event expense including food/beverage. Sounds like another keg of beer and a few bottles of some pretty high-dollar scotch for his 2014 fundraising event. Is this a repeat of the fundraising parties hosted by Mark Stanton Smith at his law office 4 years ago, when attorneys Bill Bailey, Clay Mansker, Marcus Rogers, and other lawyers, who regularly practice in Probate Court No. 2, got together for social drinks and instructions from Judge Rickhoff with lists of attorneys to contact for campaign money? So far, it looks like the same crowd giving money to Judge Rickhoffs campaign this go-around: starting off with William Bailey - $1,000, Mark Stanton Smith - $1,000, Clay Mansker - $500, and Marcus Rogers - $500. Then, other lawyers began pitching in: James Bass - $1,000, Mary Nell Maloney - $1,000, Texans for Lamar Smith - $1,000, Ralph Brown - $1,000, Alan Cazier - $1,000, Davidson & Troilo - $500, Goode Casseb Jones Riklin Choate & Watson - $500, etc. The short list tells the story about who is funding Judge Rickhoffs re-election campaign. Attached are Judge Rickhoffs C&E Reports, which are public records available at the Bexar County Elections Administrators website. Looks like its time to remind the voters about the moral of the story Lawyers giving judges cash typical, troubling. Do you think the editorial board should retract the Express-News endorsement of Judge Rickhoff, now that it is public who his constituency is, AGAIN?
