NEWS: THE premier local rural event, the Vale of Glamorgan Show, takes place on Wednesday, August 21, and it promises to be even bigger and better than ever. The show, which takes place at Fonmon Castle grounds, draws over 20,000 people – both spectators and entrants – from all over Britain. Nicola Gibson, the general secretary said, that it was a day which provided something for all those who love the Welsh countryside – along with dozens of attractions for all the family. “We’re delighted with the response of competitors – there are record entrants in the cattle, sheep and horse classes. In total there will be more than 250 trade stands. “The Kangaroo Kid is back by popular demand performing quad bike stunts, and will be the main attraction in the ring. “There will also be a special display by the police dogs.” All that – plus the grand parade of prize-winning animals at 3pm, craft fair, food hall, fairground, circus workshop and entertainments for children – promise to make it a wonderful day out.
