NEWS UPDATE AT 12PM WITH ORANGE Buganda road magistrate Olive Kazaale has found Rose Namubiru, a 65 year old nurse guilty of negligence with intention to infect someone with an infectious disease. Namubiru currently on remand at Luzira Prison, was arrested on January 8, 2014 at Victoria Medical Center after the baby’s mother pinned her saying that she first pricked her index finger and then turned the cannula on the infant. Kazaale is expected to give her sentence later on. Women activists have supported the nationwide poll results that have shown that Ugandans favour speaker Kadaga for the top most job arguing that Uganda is now ready to have a female president. The results that show Kadaga leading the race with 13 per cent and closely followed by Janet Museveni with 9% were conducted by Uganda Governance Monitoring Platform in April across 98 districts. Local government leaders are up in arms against government over low salaries. The leaders under their umbrella organization Uganda local governments association are demanding for a salary rise arguing that they receive peanuts compared to others. Currently, local council chairmen earn 1.2 million shillings compared to MPs who earn 2o million shillings a month. Buganda kingdom has signed an agreement with a German company to install solar power at Kasubi Tombs worth 500m. Speaking at the on-going Buganda lukiko, the katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga says that Kabaka’s subjects have shown interest in returning the kingdom to its heights. Mayiga will on Wednesday travel to Dubai before his European tour that will see him traverse countries including Sweden, England, and the US on his fundraising drive for the restoration of Kasubi tombs and the kingdom in general. The Libyan government has insisted that it remains in control of the country despite a series of heavy attacks and clashes over the weekend that left the parliament building in the capital Tripoli overrun by a militia group, and two people killed. The rebels are demanding that the assembly hand over power to a body drawing up a new constitution. However, the new planned constitution remains unwritten while the country has had three prime ministers since March. Libyas leaders have struggled to bring stability to the country since Muammar Gaddafi was removed from power in 2011. A 37-year-old woman has been found dead while her four children have been injured at a house in West Yorkshire. One of the children, a nine-year-old boy, was found with a stab wound and the other three have minor injuries. Police has arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of murder, following the discovery in Huddersfield.
