......NEWS UPDATES ..... MUK LECTURERS TO STRIKE AGAIN.. Makerere University lecturers are expected to carry on with a sit down strike at the beginning of the new academic year in August unless the institution pays their salary arrears. The academic staff association chairperson, Dr Muhammed Kiggundu has given the university an ultimatum to pay up by July 4th. The staff has not been paid for the last two months. Last year, Makerere University Council increased staff salaries by 70 per cent from internal budget, although management insists that it is an incentive. The deputy vice-chancellor in charge of finance and administration, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, yesterday said the incentive can only be paid once the university finances improve
