NEWS: We are currently dealing with an incident near Atherstone Street in Fazeley (near Tamworth/Lichfield). Special constables on routine patrol in the area were alerted by a member of the public at around 7.10pm tonight (Sat 17 May) that they had seen a body in the river Tame. The officers were immediately joined by colleagues and other emergency services. The area was cordoned off to allow access for specialist rescue teams from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue West Midlands Ambulance Service who were able to recover the man from the water. Inquiries are ongoing into the incident and officers are in the process of tracing and informing the man’s family. The death is being treated as unexplained. We would ask that you do not speculate while we are working to establish the circumstances that led to the man’s death.
