*NEWSFLASH* !!!!!UPDATE!!!!! *NEWSFLASH* !!!!!UPDATE!!!!! The upcoming home basketball games between #5 Hales and #2 St. Rita, which was scheduled to be relocated to Chicago State University, has been CONFIRMED to be a TRUE HOME GAME. The game WILL take place at 4930 S. Cottage Grove Ave. WE NEED TO PACK THE PLACE!!!! There are SEVERAL big reasons why Alumni presence is absolutely vital to the Spartans coming out victorious on ALL FRONTS. Let me explain: 1) Marketing This is HUGE, as the game will be FULLY TELEVISED on/by Comcast. We will have MANY opportunities to highlight our campus and showcase the presence of a large group of proud Black men supporting high achieving Black boys. A sea of red will give an ambiance that we probably havent seen in a decade at least. St. RIta also travels VERY WELL: if we let Rita take over our gym, itll be just as bad of an atmosphere as a road game. We know how the refs will do us on the road (lol). 2) Recruiting The first exam garnered NINETEEN students, 7 of which the Alumni Association was responsible for bringing to the test. I have confirmed that there will be MANY young eyes there that are still thinking about Hales as an option despite testing at St. Rita. While the game itself is the big draw in this regard, helping to provide the energy necessary for our kids to win this monumental game could certainly change the minds and hearts of quite a few parents that I know of. Were fighting for high-achieving young students and student-athletes from top schools, youth athletic programs and youth mentoring programs that tested at St. Rita but are still considering Hales. Winning this game is a HUGE step towards making them decommit and start to filter their test scores to Hales. 3) Alumni Engagement What better environment could there be than a high level sporting event to help you relive the glory days of when you were a Spartan? As many of you have seen by coming to games recently, there is still a very special magnetism once you step foot on campus. As we move closer towards the dream of restoring the luster of our name AND winning another state championship, we must be fully engaged in the efforts to support and empower one another across the generations. Being among brothers of all ages has done a great deal for me as a person, especially considering that I have been able to serve/teach others to serve the legacy of Hales Franciscan High School. THIS MOMENT IS THE PERFECT TIME TO COME HOME AND BE RENEWED IN THE SPARTAN SPIRIT! 4) Competition We want to see a great game right? We definitely want to see our boys win as well. As our Spartans are just hitting their stride (in regards to their recruitment), St. Rita has 3 D1 commits (Tulane, Kentucky, Tennessee State) with a C that has several D1 offers. Anyone that came to the St. Joes game knows how we played against that level of competition (Nebraska, Northwestern, G with 3 D1 offers, C with 15+ D1 offers). Its going to be a great night! Altogether, we NEED your support as we work to invigorate the Alumni Association and bolster our presence in Hales Franciscan High School. The boys DESERVE your support. This Friday night is a prelude to the upcoming Alumni Night that we hope to have in conjunction with Senior Night on Feb. 2 (Hales v. Proviso East). Come out and support our boys! #HalesMen #HalesBasketball #SpartanNation
