NFA says all major competitions’ financial issues to be addressed ahead of participation henceforth All financial issues would henceforth be agreed upon with the players and officials by the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) ahead of major competitions, the association’s board said on Thursday. This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the board’s meeting at the NFA Secretariat in Abuja, and signed by Emeka Inyama, a board member of NFA. According to the communiqué, the decision was to help in avoiding the kind of embarrassment faced during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The Super Eagles players boycotted training sessions due to financial issues with the NFA, before their Round of 16 match with France. The communique also said an Emergency Congress of the NFA would be convened in Abuja on July 31 to ratify the impeachment of Aminu Maigari as the association’s Chairman. NAN reports that the board had earlier on Thursday impeached Maigari as the chairman, and mandated its First Vice-Chairman, Mike Umeh, to preside over NFA affairs. The communique also said the board was satisfied with arrangements made so far for the national teams’ preparations for different competitions. It also said the board mandated the association’s Technical Sub-Committee to open channels of communication with Stephen Keshi, the Super Eagles Head Coach. The communiqué said this was with a view to extending Keshi’s contract as the NFA was still interested in working with him. ``The Technical Sub-Committee is to report back to the board within one week,’’ it said. The communiqué also said the NFA board was satisfied with all arrangements made so far for the different national teams. ``The teams are the under-20 female team, the Falconets, the under-20 male team, the Flying Eagles, and the under-17 male team, the Golden Eaglets, which are all preparing ahead of important international matches and qualifying games.
