NHS England’s Commitment to Carers NHS England recently - TopicsExpress

NHS England’s Commitment to Carers NHS England recently published its Commitment to Carers document. This followed on from a number of events where carers fed back their experience of the NHS and how this could be improved. Carers in Bristol and South Glos contributed through workshops held at our Open Meetings last year. What NHS England heard from carers was: “Make sure information is shared with me and other professionals.” “Care services should be flexible and available when it suits me and the person for whom I care.” “Recognise that I may need help both in my caring role and in maintaining my own health and wellbeing.” “Respect, involve and treat me as an expert in care.” Karen Hurley, Carers Support Centre’s Health Team Manager, said “This is a very strategic document which local carers have helped to shape. It will tell clinical commissioning groups how they need to involve carers to plan and deliver services much better in the future.” You can access the document online england.nhs.uk/ourwork/pe/commitment-to-carers/
