NIGHTIME RAMBLINGS>so much pain today/tonight after my day out in the sun...wasnt even out that long but, could almost not walk after dinner....went to bed very early and woke up now in pain> Roaring fibromyalgia ...so... prayers for all us throbbing insomniacs....pain is an evil thing...when I was younger my grandpa Jim would grunt and groan when he moved ...he was in terrible pain...wish I had been a little more understanding then. I knew he was in pain and was kind to him but,I just didnt understand why he had to be so noisy about it>lol. well, now I understand it much better!!...My mom was pretty tough about pain...she had arthritis so bad as a very young woman......she told me when she was the cook on a cattle ranch in Montana after I was born ...she would get up in the night and dip her arms into a big cauldron of hot water they kept on the woodstove through the night...it would almost scald her skin it was so hot..She didnt really take much meds for her pain until she was elderly .At that time when she moved you could hear her knees grinding from bone on bone....it was unbelievable! ...So much pain and yet she stay very sweet and had such a great sense of humor....Richard and I were joking about going grocery shopping the other night...I SAID I WOULD IF I COULD WALK THE NEXT DAY...HE PROMISED TO PUT ME IN A BASKET>LOL> That brought back one of my fun memories about mom.... She was a fun person to go places with. She loved to grocery shop but, got so disabled she was rarely able to go ...So, we made a special effort one day to join the fun of grand opening at a local mega-grocery store...She wanted to drive one of the carts instead of using the wheel chair...I was skeptical..but, thought I could just keep a close eye...Things went pretty well as she learned to maneuver it through the wide isles ..but, when we decided to stop and have coffee in the little restaurant next to the deli...we had a near disaster ! She forgot how to stop it ! . I am laughing out loud right now just thinking of the look on her face and the faces of the seated customers as she went crashing through the first two rows of tables and chairs ..Thank God , all the customers were seated toward the back wall...food drinks and books flew everywhere as they scattered to be safe from HARD DRIVING MAMA coming at them full speed.....Whew...well, I was able to catch her before there was any real damage done....She was embarrassed ,but, not too much to laugh her silly head off...and me along with her.. like a couple of country bumbkins come to town....>lol... We laughed for days ...actually years ..over that one ! I asked her once what was the hardest thing for her about getting old...She said she hated giving up her license to drive the most...And I know that was true because that was her freedom ..But , she never mentioned about how hard it is to be in pain all the time.. because she mostly ignored it and carried on with what she needed to do....Brave MAMA! (maybe soon I will tell the story again about her getting stuck in the new jetted tub we installed for her) < another giggle- fest for us for years! Love, hugs and prayers, Sherry >Hey ,if you have someone who you love a lot and enjoy being with>>go soon and laugh with them and make some memories ....Those memories will help you through the tough times later!
