NO 570 FREE SURGICAL MISSION CONTINUES ON THURSDAY The on-going rotational free Surgical Missions on hernia, breast and head lumps will continue on Thursday 13th, June 2013 at the State Hospital Asubiaro, Osogbo. This was contained in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Health Dr. (Mrs.) Temitope Ilori. The statement revealed that the Mission will undertake surgical intervention in cases such as hernia, removal of breast lumps and other swellings that require surgery. The Commissioner has therefore appealed to people who are victims of the diseases to take the advantage of the free health care services by registering their names at the State Hospital Asubiaro on before Thursday 13th June 2013 NO. 571 NIG. NAVY COMMENCES ONLINE SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION ENLISTMENT The Nigerian Naval Headquarters has announced that the Nigerian Navy 2013 Direct Short Service Commission Enlistment Exercise has commenced with online registration and will end on 12th July, 2013. A statement from the office of the Secretary to the State Government of Osun, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti advised interested indigenes of the State to register within the designated period and ensure strict compliance with the instructions as contained in the Nigerian Navy Website joiningeriannavy. Meanwhile, the Aptitude Test for the exercise is scheduled for Saturday, 20th July, 2013. NO. 572 NIGERIAN ARMY BEGINS RECRUITMENT The Nigerian Army Headquarters has announced the commencement of the recruitment exercise for the 70th Nigerian Army Regular Recruit Intake (RRI). A statement from the Secretary to the State Government of Osun, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti advised interested indigenes of the State to immediately obtain scratch card from any branch of Union Bank or Unity Bank Plc. The statement added that such candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 22 and must possess a minimum of WASC or its equivalent with at least three credits. The statement further explained that the pre-screening examination has been scheduled for June 22, 2013, while shortlisted candidates from the State of Osun will be invited to join others from the Zone for screening and selection between July 8 and 17 2013 at the Headquarter 2 Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan. NO. 573 JUNE 12 CELEBRATION CLIMAXES TOMORROW The year 2013 edition of the historic annulment of June 12 allegedly won by Chief MKO Abiola on June 12, 1993, climaxes tomorrow with a final rally at the Freedom Square, Osogbo. The 20th Anniversary event put together by the civil societies coalition in Osun in conjunction with the State Government of Osun, kicked off last Friday, 7th June with a Press Conference and a Jumat Service at Oja-Oba Central Mosque with the State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in attendance. This was later followed by the Church Service on Sunday, 9th June at the St. Benedict Catholic Cathedral, Osogbo. No. 576 OSUN GOVERNMENT BEGINS ANOTHER ROUND OF SEPARATION In a bid to make the state of Osun a conducive environment to all and sundry through the Urban renewal Initiative Programme, the State Government of Osun has commenced separation of all illegal structures, containers, ware-houses and kiosks around the G.R.A near the New Orisunmibare Shopping Complex, Osogbo Sports Club and its environs in Osogbo. According to a press release issued by the Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Arc. Muyiwa Ige, all owners of buildings and erected structures beside Railway Quarters, including sidewalks between Fakunle and Olaiya areas are advised to submit their building plans and other relevant title documents to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development. To this end, all affected traders are encouraged to apply for allocation of shops at any Government approved markets. No. 577 SPECIAL ADVISER CHARGES APC TO BE VIGILANT DURING 2015 ELECTIONS The Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Bisi Odewumi has charged members of the newly formed All Progress Congress (A.P.C) to be vigilant during the forthcoming 2015 general Elections in the country. Hon. Bisi Odewumi stated this while speaking with newsmen in his office. He said that the fear of A.P.C is gradually becoming the beginning of wisdom for the P.D.P in the country. The Special Adviser stated further that P.D.P never believes that a party like A.P.C could emerge at this point in time in the history of the country. He also said the calibre of people that teamed up to form A.P.C coupled with its numerical strength is causing pressure within the rank and file of P.D.P. Hon. Odewumi maintained that the bickering within the peoples Democratic Party today is a ploy to throw over-board any member that is not loyal to the ruling party in Nigeria. On whether there is going to be free and fair elections in Nigeria come 2015, Hon. Odewumi said that it can only be decided by the presidency. Hon. Odewumi, however affirmed that A.P.C will not fold its arms and allow P.D.P to rig elections come 2015.
