NO CUTS, NO DELAYS TO THE NDIS: IPSWICH AND THE SOMERSET HAS WAITED LONG ENOUGH Today I visited Focal Extended to discuss the NDIS. The message from people with disability, their families and carers in Ipswich and the Somerset region is clear: we have waited long enough. The upcoming Budget will be about choices. So far we’ve seen Tony Abbott prioritising knights and dames ahead of jobs, health and education. Any cuts or delays to the NDIS would be the most damning example yet of Tony Abbotts twisted priorities. Tony Abbott must rule out any cuts or delays to the rollout of the NDIS. People in Blair understand the current disability system is completely broken. For generations, politicians have promised Australians with disability a better deal. For generations, politicians have let them down. Now, for the first time ever, people with disability in this country are getting the better deal they always deserved. Already, more than 2,500 people with profound disability are receiving the care and support that they have waited their whole lives for. Yet this Government seems determined to make people with disability wait even longer. The people of Ipswich and the Somerset region want the Prime Minister to rule out any cuts or delay to the full rollout of the NDIS. People with disability have waited long enough.
