NO MORE POETRY! Now is no time for universal #truths about #Love. We cannot afford to have this important #movement lost to #cliché. Startle and enchant people with innovation and authenticity in how we put this poetry into everyday ACTION. It needs to impinge, to relate to them. As artists we need to translate those universal truths into something that makes sense on the human scale. Something with the volume of urgency and yet the effortless undeniability of NOW. How we do this is open to experiment. Explore your ideas and Knowing with irrepressible curiosity and unapologetic wonder. I witness the appreciation and heart in too many songs and stories, appealing to humanity to face the insanity of war, to find our family connection to those homeless and starving on other continents, to find common reality with neighbours and strangers, to recognise the greatness in Self... yet we still stand in this quicksand, standing still, as though well think our way out of the sinking. No - now is time to Know and DO. To tear off the protective masks of numbness, to allow ourselves to feel the sting of what we are attached to. What we are a part of and what actually makes us up in part. I dont have the answer to You and I dont need to know everything, nor DO everything myself and neither do you. Just be bigger than your body, than that one unit society has squashed your attention down into, through all its seemingly empowering ideas about Identity. You are more beautiful than your face, you are more intelligent than how you spell and pronounce words, you have a right to touch the room around you, with your fingers, your back, your mouth, your belly. You need not hem yourself in to that biped frame. Yes you should be proud of who you are and comfortable in your skin, but that doesnt mean defending an identity that is less than who you truly are. Enough of the Selfies, turn your camera outwards, YOU ARE OUT THERE TOO! Let your surroundings reflect your presence. Let anyone who comes into contact with you know that YOU are one of the ones making things better. Make that change startling and enchanting enough that it doesnt sink into poetry, ever framed in the nostalgia of what some previous generation once dreamed. If there was ever a time when ideas can be shared and put into collaborative action IT IS NOW. Through the internet, through international travel, through prolific communication to people all around you, face-to-face, human-to-human this new reality can be agreed upon. Live stupendously and document everything! I cant wait to be startled by You!!!
