NO OTHER REFUGE Look through your window and what you would see is frightening - physical, moral, religious, demonic oppression, sickness, disease, fighting and war on every side. In the midst of that storm, in those perilous times, to whom do we run? Where do we find shelter? In Mark 5, a man named Jairus was faced with a similar crisis, as his young daughter was at the point of death. In the process of trying to find protection for his daughter’s life, the little girl died. In the midst of his grief, he heard these words from Jesus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe” (Mark 5:36). Children of God, we have no other refuge than this command of Jesus, “Only believe”. We must depend on God’s Spirit for strength and assistance for God is Spirit. We must lay our souls under His influences and operations. We must instruct every purpose and passion of our heart and every act of our worship to be guided and regulated by the Word of God.
