NO PLAN TO REMOVE ACTING GOVERNOR, SAYS TARABA SPEAKER Category: News Published on Tuesday, 07 October 2014 05:00 Written by Abbas Jimoh Hits: 34 Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Mr Josiah Sabo Kente has dismissed allegations that the Assembly was planning to impeach acting Governor Garba Umar. In an interview with Daily Trust in Abuja yesterday, Kente also said the law would take its course on Governor Danbaba Suntai as the recommendation of the medical panel recently constituted to determine the health status of the ailing governor would be followed. The state House of Assembly recently set up a medical panel to determine Suntai’s health status. Based on constitutional provisions, the governor would have to be removed if the panel determines that he is not fit to discharge his responsibilities. The Speaker denied having any governorship ambition saying the State Executive Council invoked section 189 and mandated Mr. Speaker to set up the medical board to ascertain the health status of the ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai. He said the medical panel has since commenced work and have gone very far adding that they are on a one-week break because of the independence anniversary and the eid-el-Kabir celebrations. Mr Kente while commenting on accusation by some loyalists of Governor Suntai of being marginalized by the present administration in the state said it was not true. He equally said acting Governor was free to contest the governorship seat of the state like his counterpart in Adamawa State.
