NOBODY CAN STOP INEC – UMEH The National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh says no political party has any right to stop any election scheduled by Independent Electoral Commission. Speaking to journalists in Awka, Chief Umeh said any attempt to stop INEC from discharging its constitutional duties was a breach of the law and should attract serious sanctions. Chief Umeh while commending INEC for being firm in its resolution to conduct a supplementary Governorship polls in the State alleged that there was elaborate plan by some political parties to derail the process to put the exercise to question. He dismissed the threat by a political party to use a court process to stop the election, stressing that no court has powers to stop INEC from carrying out its mandate. Chief Umeh warned that the country should not submit itself to excesses of a political party. He enjoined the electorate in areas involved in the supplementary election to come out and vote parties of their choice as well as shun any act of provocation to ensure a hitch free exercise, while urging security agencies to provide the needed conducive environment. On the suit by Mrs. Uche Ekwunife against the APGA Governorship candidate, Chief Umeh described it as embarrassing and act of gross indiscipline. He disassociated APGA from the action and noted that the suit would not stand any judicial process stressing that somebody who failed to secure the party ticket during the primary should not seek the mandate through the back door.
