NORTHWEST CONDITIONS SET TO CONTINUE Good morning everyone. Well we have had a very mild night throughout much of the region thanks to a fairly strong northwest flow. Just to put it into perspective, Christchurch was sitting on 22 degrees at 4am and Ashburton on 21 degrees at 2am. Winds have been gusty near the coast with average wind speeds close to 40km/h for many and gusting closer to 60km/h. Further inland, particularly in exposed areas, wind gusts of closer to the 100km/h mark have been present. Expect fine weather throughout the day with gusty northwest winds. Winds are still likely to gust to gale force at times further inland (80-90km/h) and are likely to remain gusty about the coast (40-50km/h at times) for much of the day. Winds may tend briefly northeast right on the coastline late this evening briefly, before tending back to the northwest overnight. Temperatures expected to reach around the 22-24 degree mark today and drop to 12-13 degrees overnight. Let us know how windy it is currently or has been overnight at your place! - Leighton Please note: Gusty NW winds are expected to continue all day tomorrow.
