NOTE OF INFORMATION!!! On behalf of the Council of Patrons and the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), I write to officially inform you about the decision of our 19th Annual National General Assembly Meeting which was held at Wiawso College of Education from the 18th to 21st February, 2014. At the said meeting, delegates headed by the respective SRC Presidents from all the 38 Colleges of Education came to a unanimous agreement to embark on a nationwide peaceful demonstration to create enough public awareness on the need for the re-instatement of the Teacher Trainee allowance as government has failed to listen to us in all our engagements with government through its representatives. As we give this notice, we can confidently say that about 60% of level 100 students in the Colleges of Education have no option than to terminate their courses because they cannot settle the huge bills at their disposal. Again, the feeding fee which the government promised to give the various colleges in order to ease the huge financial burden on the current level 100 students has also not come to fruition thereby resulting in students paying enormous fees which has immensely compounded their financial responsibilities in the various colleges, it has also come to our notice that, level 300 students would have their allowances ceased after June hence our resolution to create this public out-cry for the government to heed to our request. This said National peaceful demonstration will take place simultaneously in all the five sectors of the Association in their respective Regional capitals on MONDAY, 24TH MARCH, 2014 namely ; Accra, Kumasi, Ho, Tamale & Takoradi between 9:00am and 2:00pm. We therefore call on all trainees and everyone who has teacher education at heart & believe that quality teacher education is an indispensable tool in building the better Ghana agenda we all yearn for to help in the fight.
