Event highlights include: Concessions, Children’s activities, FREE health screenings, Music and entertainment – a day of fun and information for the entire family! This event is being sponsored and organized by members of our local law enforcement and medical community and is getting more exciting by the day! Date: August 16, 2014 Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Location: Anita Carson Middle School (outdoor and indoor access to accommodate all attendees) 1010 S Main St. Greensboro, GA 30642 I could spend hours upon hours trying to find the right words to express how deeply we have been touched and affected by the outpouring of love, prayers, kind words and support for our family. The truth is…there are no words. There are no words to thank the many people who have been more than willing to help our family in our critical time of need. The response from law enforcement and our colleagues in health and public service has been tremendous, to say the least. The messages and sharing of personal stories from those who have been blessed by organ donation, either as a donor or recipient, serve as a testimony to the goodness and giving of others that is revealed during a person’s desperate time of need. I have cried many tears and been given many reasons to smile and remain hopeful as family, friends and strangers have shared their direct and indirect experiences with diabetes, hypertension and kidney failure. Raleigh is battling Chronic Kidney Disease, and ONE kidney could save his life and allow him to witness and be a part of the life we envisioned when we said, “I DO”. Just as we’re battling kidney disease, there are many others battling chronic conditions that have rendered their heart, liver, pancreas or lungs barely functional. Yes, I pray, constantly, that my husband’s health will be restored by a much prayed for and blessed kidney donation. And, after reading the personal and connected reasons that compelled others to be willing to test as a possible donor for Raleigh, I know it’s only a matter of time before MANY stories of triumph are told! I have tried my best to keep up with the number of people who have shared that they will complete the donation process even if they are not a match for Raleigh or have their driver’s license changed to reflect that they are now an organ donor, but I lost count! I normally would hate to admit that I couldn’t keep track of numbers, but not this time! I recall when and where our story began, and each step along the way, but I have no way of predicting the outcome for our family. What I do know is that our lives have been forever changed by the graciousness of giving, compassionate people. I can only imagine, and hope to experience, the moment we receive the call from Emory saying, “WE HAVE A MATCH!!!”
