NOTE* this is not aimed at any specific person. I have set back and watched the heated debates and arguments on Facebook regarding Syria and whether or not we should become involved. This is a very difficult situation not only politically but morally. I am in no way a supporter of war; I disagreed with the invasion of Iraq because I knew that it was based on lies and fabrications. I did however agree with the invasion of Afghanistan because we had factual information that they were harboring Osama Bin Laden and he was an enemy of the US therefore he had to answer for his actions (9/11). What I find most interesting are the people who at this moment, while we are faced with such a dilemma as the situation in Syria want to come out and throw their 2 cents in which equals no more than to bash the government and show their disdain for President Obama. These same people spend an inordinate amount of time on Facebook posting and writing statuses about nonsense which is entirely acceptable for the most part. But if you are so opinionated then show me what you have done to better the world, or even your own community. What I want to say is BE the change you wish to see, use the powers we have been given by our forefathers to be heard. Write your representatives, become involved in political and ethical movements. I am a firm believer of social change and I for one put my money where my mouth is, literally and figuratively. I am very involved in a variety of causes both political and nonpolitical. I donate to worthy causes when I can, and when I cannot I volunteer to write blogs, letters, petitions, etc. I fight every day for social equality and change. We live in a very diverse world, and we must not only accept but embrace our similarities and differences. If we don’t take care of our country and do what’s right then what are we trying to protect? Our country is falling apart at the seams and has been for a very long time, not just financially, militarily, but also morally and this goes back much further than the last few POTUS”s .I care very deeply about God, my family, my community, as well as the global community. I can’t stand to hear people say “I don’t care about what happens in (fill in the blank), we are all connected and most of us who are of a higher education understand just how very connected we are!. The atrocity which has occurred in Syria is a violation of the Geneva Convention and a despicable crime against human rights. I for one do not envy Obama and the predicament he is in but I am glad that “He” has not made a rash decision and is allowing Congress to hear the matter and vote as we are a democracy and this is what it is all about. When we as a nation face a crisis such as this, emotions run high however we could better spend our time using a social forum (FB) for better things than bashing the POTUS, because even if we do nothing every time we (the people) come out against our Government our enemies win a small victory!
