NOTICE OF COMMUNITY MEETING Thorncliffe/Greenview Community Association Will be hosting a Community Meeting @TGCA 5600 Centre North: Tuesday March 11: 7-9 pm To discuss possible responses to the DI’s intent for redevelopment of the old Quality Inn site. Despite rumours to the contrary the future of the DI in Greenview is anything but certain. The DI has voiced intent to create 60 SRO (single room occupancy) & 30 market units with commercial space on the ground floor. Further it will try to attract a third party developer to build an additional structure with a minimum of 130 units including 46 “affordable” in order to qualify for grant money already received. AMONG THE MANY QUESTIONS REMAINING: HAS PUBLIC GRANT MONEY BEEN USED INAPROPRIATELY? IS GREENVIEW BEING USED AS A SACRIFICE ZONE? Since 2012 TGCA has attempted to work positively with all parties. If our next action however is active opposition it will ONLY be with a STRONG DIRECTION as indicated by area business & residents. If you want to shape the outcome of the old Quality Inn site, whether you are for or against; YOUR ATTENDANCE at this MEETING is ESSENTIAL. The DI have offered to attend but TGCA has respectfully asked them to allow this meeting to be for and about community. As there are both city and provincial issues at play both the MLA & Ward Councillor have been invited. If you can’t attend you are encouraged to fill out the reverse opinion poll.
