NOTICE TO MILITARY VETERANS\SERVICEMEMBERS FROM OHIO - WARTIME BENEFITS EXPIRING 31 DEC 14. From the Army G1: Continuing a tradition that dates back to the Civil War, Ohio awards a state/federal tax-free War Bonus during periods of conflict that applies to anyone who wears or has worn a uniform of the United States Armed Forces – Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard and Army Reserve and the families of the fallen. Although the bonus awards any active service, it is higher for those who serve in an actual combat theater. For those claiming Iraq service, the chance to apply for the bonus will end December 31, 2014. Application for Afghanistan service will continue for three years after the President declares an end to U.S. involvement.
