NOVEMBER 1st: What a great week to discuss a few components of what it means to be a follower of Christ. Here is a quick review: First, we looked at the beautiful commitment and public announcement of baptism; which brings entry to our faith journey. Secondly, the importance of being intentional and alone with God was made clear through Jesus’ own example. These times alone should be non-negotiable. This time is a spiritual renewal, ready to drive and direct our steps. DISCLAIMER: Satan will try his best to interrupt this time! Unfortunately he is successful a lot of times without us even realizing it. Like Jesus, get alone, away from the crowds and distractions. Lastly, we embraced the charge that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world! We are part of God’s community and He has called each one of us to serve others. Explore your gifts and talents. Pray about them, work and grow, and watch God rock your world in this service! I want to end this week with two charges from Jesus to us…his disciples: Great Commission: “I’ve received all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.” Matthew 28:18b-20 (CEB) Great Commandment: “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39 (CEB) So our charge says nothing about using God’s word to tear down others, to be angry and show judgment for justice, to use pride because we have got “God on our side”, or to pick and choose whom we love and serve. It is a charge that has no limits and boundaries because our all is in God…the one that is limitless! MY MY MY, how powerful this journey will be! Stay strong and focused. Please know that I love you and I hope you have a great day! ~Kristen
