NOVEMBER 4, 2013 Fact And Fantasy Rangers fans may be puzzled at all the innuendo around Blue Pitch Holdings which is coming from the Requisitioners, given that a prominent player in Minico has been phoning Chris Morgan of BPH constantly seeking their support in the upcoming AGM. Morgan reckons he has had at least 50 calls from this Requisitioner I am informed, as has Richard Hughes of Zeus. Of course, Zeus and BPH are two of the favourite whipping boys of the anti-board faction online. How curious, then, that the Requisitioners would be seeking to curry their favour or canvas their support. I wonder how those who hold aloft the “Spivs Out” banners feel about the people they are acting on behalf of trying to cosy up with Zeus, Blue Pitch and Margarita. Having said that, I am sure the banner wavers have far more pressing concerns like what to buy in the school tuck shop at playtime. As per the recent statement from Rangers, it would be great if we had an explanation from the Requisitioners or their spokesmen why their concerns about the identity of those behind Blue Pitch and Margarita are not sufficient enough to prevent them seeking support from these two investors. But ARE sufficient enough to seek to cause unrest among the more jittery supporters in the Rangers fanbase. It is part of the curious times we live in that the departure of Jim Traynor from his job as Head of Media and Communications at Ibrox has been relatively low-key. When Traynor first took on the role I blogged enthusiastically about his appointment, believing that a journalist of his expertise, experience and gravitas was exactly what Rangers needed. I have had much cause to be disappointed since then as it appears JT chose to distance himself from the important fights that his role called for and he was posted missing many times. His skills would have been invaluable, for example, in defending the board against the onslaught of the rebels in recent months but he was strangely silent when it could be expected he would be vocal. Traynor’s departure has been described as a cost-cutting measure at the club but I do wonder if he had been more proactive in defending the club whether he would have been removed. Traynor’s friendship with a prominent anti-board blogger – well, this week, at least – will not have helped his cause. I would imagine that JT will come to regret his time with Rangers and think of what might have been. As for this other blogger, I should be flattered that I get a mention in all his blogs and that he seems to think I have such magical powers. Especially now that I have put Jack Irvine under my spell and Jack is now doing my bidding – not the other way around. Those with a penchant for fantasy literature would be well-advised to read this blogger’s blogs. He tends to live in a land all his own, inhabited by wizards, renegades, humans who turn into animals and blue knights, where he is protected by a 24-hour cordon of steel. Those who live in the real world, however, have a hard time making out what on middle earth the old duffer is tolkien about. billmcmurdo.wordpress/2013/11/04/fact-and-fantasy/
