I often times wonder why I have been so blessed in life. There is not a day that goes by that I am not thankful for every. single. part. of. my. life. 15 years ago on Thanksgiving I remember walking across the street for our dinner at my grandparents house. My grandpa sat perched on his porch swing with his video camera in hand making sure not to miss one person coming into the house. He would ask us what we are thankful for. For years I would respond, duh grandpa, I am thankful for our food, and friends, aaaannnnnnnd uuuummmmmm thats it. Little did I know, 15 years later on the eve of Thanksgiving, I would be thinking about what I would say if my grandpa could ask me one last time what I am thankful for. I would tell him how thankful I am for the love of family and friends, and the foundation I was given. Or how delicious the olives tasted stealing them off of grandmas table (although we still buy the same ones--they will never taste the same), or the sound of a football game drowned out by the conversations taking place at each table throughout their house. All of those things at that time, were trivial. Trivial because I had it all. Today, I dont. Hug the ones you love, hold nothing back and live each day as if it were the last.
