NPCore News in the Digital Tmes Most security incidents are occurred in PCs or via PCs as a medium. Subsequent massive security incidents also started from the infected PC by the malware. Therefore, the A to Z of security is so called “PC security”. A security solutions company, NPCore has been faithfully performing such proposition. The PC is a core gateway for users and even administrator to control the system, therefore the entire system protection can be achieved by securing the PC. NPCore, established in 2008, is an APT (Advanced Persistent Threat) solution professional company. At the time of establishment, the anti-virus solutions were centered in the security market. However, NPCore has been receiving many positive evaluations because the company contributed in increase of enterprise’s security level by offering the professional malware detection and response solutions. Specially, NPCore has focused on the PC security by offering the Zombie PC prevention solutions. Network based APT response solution, ‘Zombie ZERO Inspector’ and agent based APT response solution, ‘Zombie ZERO Agent’ are NPCore’s flagship solutions. Mr. Han, Seungchul, CEO of NPCore, said that “most security incidents are caused by malware infected Zombie PCs, therefore if we securely protect the PCs, then we can proactively prevent such security incidents. This is a reason why Mr. Khan established the company and started the business”. The Zombie ZERO product family was launched 2 years after the establishment of the company which was 2011. This product family was obtained the international Common Criteria Standard (CC) certification and has rapidly expanded in not only the private sectors, but also the government and public sectors. According to NPCore, currently, a foreign company, FireEye is taking little over 50% of APT market share in Korea and NPCore’s Zombie ZERO is taking about 25% of market share. NPCore’s sales revenue is growing at fast speed, expect that the sales revenue will achieve about 6 Million Korean Won in 2014 from 2 Million Korean Won last year. This growth is about 200% growth rate and the company is now planning to list on the KOSDAQ in 2017. The purpose of IPO is subject to expand to the overseas market and secure the advanced workforce. Specially, NPCore is a few company possessing the hardware technology among the Korean security companies. NPCore said that many security companies are launching the appliance products combining with own security solution and hardware, but there is not much cases utilizing their own hardware. NPCore developed a sever equipping with maximum 360 CPU cores in June this year. In addition, NPCore increased the energy efficiency providing less than 1mW/ MIPS per core and improved the performance by realizing the multi-core technology. NPCore is planning to launch a big data security platform using this server. Global security companies such as Symantec and MacAfee are now recognizing the security venerability by analyzing tremendous customer’s logs utilizing the big data platform. As NPCore is also planning to equip the APT response solution on top of this high performance server, they expect that log analysis, malware detection, and treatment can be provided as an one stop service. Mr. Han said that “It is wrong if security companies only provide the product simply blocking the attack and treating the infection”, therefore the big data analysis technology is core element since no one knows when, where, and which type of attack will occur. NPCore secured the HW technology to realize the big data analysis technology”. At the same time, NPCore is gearing and speeding up the overseas expansion. NPCore announced that this year would be the first year of oversea expansion and have been doing active activities to enter into the overseas markets such as North America and Asia including Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, and Malaysia. Earlier this year in February, NPCore opened a local office in USA and established a subsidiary in Vietnam in August. This subsidiary is securing the Asian market’s bridgehead. Even if NPCore has not made any sizable sales revenue so far, instead NPCore has been receiving very positive feedbacks from these markets. Recently in August, NPCore performed a free download promotional campaign of personal APT solution, ‘Zombie ZERO Personal’, targeting to IT administrators in North America, and received many feedbacks from about 350 people for 5 weeks. Based on these feedbacks, NPCore will actively launch the product by reshaping the product within this month. Simultaneously, NPCore is performing sales and marketing to the public and government sectors and colleges in the Vietnamese market and will contract with several customers soon. Mr. Han said that “he has been traveling over 50% in a month to USA, Japan, and South East Asia, and the exploration of oversea market is not only NPCore’s awaited project, but also the Korean security companies’ awaited project, therefore he wanted to usher the Korean security solutions”. dt.co.kr/contents.html?article_no=2014100202101060786001
