NSW Solo Riders Assoc . Round Eight Heffernan Motorsport Series Nepean Speedway 11th August 2013. Meeting Report; Round 8 of the Heffernan Motorsport series lived up to all expectations, with the overall pointscores getting tighter as the series enters the tail end of the series. Track conditions were near perfect with clear blue skies the order of the day. A good crowd witnessed an action packed meeting. The meeting kicked off in fine style with Heat one youngster Jack Holder from the unfavoured gate 4 pulled off some smart racing moves coming from last in the first corner to picking off his opponents to take a brilliant win, unluckiest rider was certainly young gun Josh MacDonald who was involved in a first corner incident with leader Keiran Sproule locking up in front of the three chasing riders and poor Josh had nowhere to go clipping the falling Sproule and highsiding onto the track, All four riders were called back for the restart but Josh could not hang on and on medical advice withdrew from the meeting. Also sharing this award was another youngster Tyler King who shed a rear chain while in a comfortable 3rd place which destroyed his clutch and had to withdraw from the day. Round two of heats also provided some close racing and a surprise when Daine Stevens out run his cousin Sam Masters in a great race between the boys, and Taylor Poole dropping his only point on the day to fast starting Jack Holder. Round 4 of heats again provided some solid action, Mason Campton quietly picked up his points with consistent smooth riding, Kurt Shields also maintained in touch with consistent points, Michael Penfold was getting things going after a fall in his first ride but unfortunately had machine failure which robbed him of a B final hope, Alan MacDonald pulled out a good win showing he is coming to grips with his machine, along with other dirt track stars, luke Richards and grant charnock, the dirt track boys certainly have the race craft and are now getting the technique together, Pat McLaughlin also was very consistant scoring in each of his four heats but tried a bit to hard in his last ride and fell exiting turn 2 after a very close first corner. Rd 5 sorted out the finalists on the day with Poole, Holder and Masters all transferring directly into the all important A Final. The cut throat B final was comfortably won By Mason Campton booking his place in the A Final. A super start from gate 1 saw Taylor Poole stamp his authority in the first corner, leading off turn 2, behind Campo and Masters and Holder were sorting themselves out fighting for position, lap 2 saw poole leading while behind all 3 riders were chasing with campo holding onto second place with Sam looking for a pass at every opportunity, entering turn 3 Young Jack saw his opportunity and nipped up the inside of Masters and set out after Mason, At the flag Poole comfortably took the flag from Campton and a fast finishing Holder third and series leader Masters fourth.
