NUMBER 1: WE ARE BETTER OFF NOW Compared with 50 years ago, when I was 6 years old, and Ridley was 4, the average human now earns nearly 3 times as much money (adjusted for inflation), eats 1/3 more calories, buries 2/3 fewer children, and can expect to live 1/3 longer. In fact, its hard to find any region of the world that is worse off now than it was then. And, the global population has more than doubled since 1962!
