NURSES. Today I would like to talk about nurses. Ok nurse friends put your feathers back down, its not a negative post about you. When we are sick and/or in the hospital we are cranky evil people sometimes. We never think about the people that are trying to make us well. When I worked in the ER sometimes we had down time. Most of the time we had to hold our bladder for hours, attempted dying of starvation because we had no choice or had taken care of someone who thought taking some meth and cocaine was a good thing to do. These nurses, now let me clarify not all nurses, get that education because they want to take care of people who are sick. They have to have the heart of both a lion and a lamb. The nerves of Superman and the restraint to hold their tongue when they are being cussed at , talked about, yelled at and everything else in that category. They do all these things while needing to pee for the last six hours. They do all these things while going eight or more hours without a break or lunch. Why do they do this? Because they care. You have to put yourselves in their shoes. Think about it. They comfort a mother who has just lost her child. They comfort an elderly spouse after the death of their husband/wife of 50 years of marriage. They have to go with the doctor to tell a parent your child has cancer or tell a family their grandparent has passed away and they have done all they could do. All of this is done while on the inside they are an emotional wreck. They can not release that emotion until shift is over. Same goes for medics. You gripe and complain because they in your opinion are taking to long to get to your house. Maybe those medics just held a child while they passed away in a traffic accident. Maybe those medics had to help pull someone out of a vehicle who was the victim in a drunk driving accident? These brave souls take the brunt of everyone elses emotion. So think about that next time you are in the hospital or doctors office. Think about that next time you call for an ambulance for pain your have had for a month and think you require emergency assistance. If you see a fireman thank them. They may be the reason your family got out of that fire. They may be the reason you lived after a horrific car accident. They sure dont do what they do for the money. They are earths guardian angels.
