When Jeff Friedman and I came together we were a veritable Brady - TopicsExpress

When Jeff Friedman and I came together we were a veritable Brady bunch of cats (his Smoky Bandit & Xanadu and my Lucky and Linguinee.) Today as we mourn the passing of Lucky and Xanadu, the last of our pet family, we feel both great loss and intense gratitude for the love they gave us over the years. Lucky was my princess. An angel in fur. She fulfilled every dream I had as a little girl of what having a cat could be. I chose her at the pound when I picked her up and she promptly began licking my chin - from there it was all over. She pulled the same thing when she met Jeff and won his heart as well. We had been struggling with sustaining her over the past few months as she ate less and less and lost most of her body weight. When it was time, it was clear it was time. And though we will miss her we know she will be present for us in spirit, looking over us, hanging with Linguinee and licking chins in heaven. Jeff loves to tell the story of Xanadu’s first day home as a kitten. He was in grad school and sat down in a chair to dine on hamburger helper, at which point little Ziti climbed up the chair, landed on his chest and proceeded to stick her head right in the bowl and chowed down. Not much has changed in 19 years :-) . Her descent was more rapid and surprising over the course of a 10 days but when it was time, it was clearly time. Lucky went up Friday and Xanadu Monday. It has been a rough week to say the least. We loved/love our animals so much. They gave us so much. We will miss them so much. The house will be very empty without them and the space left in our hearts will take some time to heal. Such is the nature of great love. Peace be with you little furry angels. It’s all wide open fields and chasing butterflies from here on out. Love J & J
