NWS Wilmington Briefing: Arctic cold front will arrive tonight. Snow showers will accompany the front with 1/2 to 1 of new snow expected. Gusty winds will occur along and behind the front, producing more blowing snow and near white-out conditions Monday morning through Monday afternoon. Arctic air moving into the region will bring bitterly cold wind chills starting on Monday and lasting through Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to moderate late this week. Forecast- • Tonight-A chance of rain and snow showers before 3am, then snow showers. Low around 16. Southwest wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. • Monday-Snow showers likely before 7 am, then patchy blowing snow after 7 am. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 9 by 5pm. Wind chill values as low as -7. Northwest wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. • Monday Night-Partly cloudy, with a low around -8. Wind chill values as low as -20. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph. • Tuesday-Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 7. Wind chill values as low as -21. West wind 6 to 8 mph. • Tuesday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around -7.
