NYS to control traffic in Nairobi - Waiguru THE National Youth Service could be deployed as traffic marshals in Nairobis central business district, Devolution Secretary Ann Waiguru said yesterday. Waiguru said the deployment is part of a governments comprehensive youth transformative. “The increased number of youths recruited at NYS would see some play a role in controlling traffic in the city as police focus on other duties,” she said. The government has announced plans to increase the number of NYS recruits from 2,000 to 21,870, who will undergo paramilitary and vocational training. Waiguru was speaking at the graduation of 6,500 youths from the Kenya Youth Empowerment Project at the Kasarani gymnasium stadium. The government project was funded by the World Bank at Sh1.45 billion to ensure the youth acquire entrepreneurial skills.
