Nadiya Savchenko is a former first lieutenant of the Ukrainian army. In 2014, Savchenko was abducted by Russian terrorists in eastern Ukraine and is now held in captivity in Russia in violation of the Geneva Conventions. In early November 2014, while held prisoner in Russia, Savchenko resigned from the Ukrainian army after being elected and was sworn as a member of the Ukrainian parliament. She recently wrote from her Russian prison: They (the Russians) hold not only me, but many Ukrainians. If (Putin) releases the other abducted Ukrainians, removes his hands from Crimea and Ukraine, then let them publically, gleefully execute me. Savchenko was one of Ukraines first women to train as an air-force pilot, and to date the countrys only female aviator of the Sukhoi Su-24 bomber, and of the Mil Mi-24 helicopter. Slava Heroyam!
