Naga women condemn killing of Ngalangzar Malue Source: The Sangai Express / Newmai News Network Senapati, July 16 2014: The Naga Women Union (NWU) has condemned any form of violence and also strongly condemned the unfortunate killing of Ngalangzar Malue on July 12 at Finch Corner, Ukhrul district in a broad day light by unidentified persons. The NWU also condemned the Government of Manipurs alleged taking advantage and political mileage of the situation during the time when it was facing internal crisis over power and portfolios . The Government instead of taking stock of the situation and the responsibility to investigate objectively chose to deploy Manipur police commandos and the IRBs who are well known in the state for their notoriety, indiscipline and disregard for human lives and rights, it stated. The Manipur Government also imposed Cr.PC 144 in the district headquarter of Ukhrul which is creating tension and fear psychosis to the public, particularly women and children and violating the rights of the people, the Naga Women Union added. We also question the arbitrary and random act of raiding the office of the Wung Tangkhul Region of NSCN and the arrest of 8 cadres on mere suspicion when it is a well known fact that many armed groups including valley based groups, operate in the district and have records of violence in the area. The Government of Manipur has once again demonstrated its malicious and prejudice attitude towards the Nagas and such insensitivity will only deepen the existing distrust and animosity, the NWU cautioned. The Government of Manipur should instead seek support of the concern people of the region to deal with the issue rather than resorting to knee jerk reaction . The NWU then urged the Government of Manipur to address the grievances and issues raised by the people instead of resorting to un-warranted use of force to address a situation. We demand that Cr.PC 144 be immediately revoked, the police commandos and IRB be removed from the district and the NSCN-IM cadres be unconditionally released and their properties returned in the spirit of maintaining peace and communal harmony in the state, it demanded. e-pao.net/GP.asp?src=14..170714.jul14
