Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has not publicly commented on the removal of Eng John Cheruiyot as MD of Nakuru’s urban areas water and sanitation services provider Nawassco company-we are told- largely because the matter is before a court of law where he has been sued by a member of the Board of Directors which ousted Cheruiyot by sending him on a mandatory 100-days leave pending his retirement this month. Sources close to him however aver that the Governor has tacitly endorsed the current management team headed by Eng James Ng’ang’a who is the Technical Manager and acting MD while sources in the company indicate that staff and members of the public have demonstrated support for the new team by overwhelmingly going there to settle their bills and working extra hard and with enthusiasm. Our insiders there say the revenue earning have unusually skyrocketed since the war between URP and TNA MCAs that saw Cheruiyot removed and the locks to his office changed to deny him access. Seems like during his tenure, Cheruiyot rubbed many a worker the wrong way the crux of which, the proverbial straw whose camel was broken, we are told, was waging a war with his employers which is the BOD, a war which is reportedly still ongoing. So far the board is having its way and calling the shots at the company, with the support of the controversy and publicity shy Eng Ng’ang’a who has served the company for seven years compared to Cheruiyot’s six even as Cheruiyot’s term officially draws near as it ends this month.
