Site: mazzacafe Food: 4.3 To start things out we ordered the appetizer sampler, you can choose any 3 items off of the appetizer menu (really good idea) its a good price and a great way to try new items you might not have tried otherwise. The three we chose were the Muhamara, the Fries, and the Herbed Green Fava Beans (detailed descriptions with photos). The Muhamara and the Fava Beans offer a rich blend of garden flavors that are easy to love. The fries are great and come with a unique aoili that left us finishing them off. For the Main Course Shawarma over rice, Mediterranean Steak and Cheese, and our friends ordered the Lamb Kebab, and the Lamb over rice (Full descriptions with photos). I like shawarma and this was better than most Ive had, it was fairly savory but tastefully so. The Mediterranean Steak and Cheese is now one of our favorite steak sandwiches anywhere, the steak is tender and the whole thing is stuffed in a pita. Since we didnt try them, we cant speak much about the Lamb Kebab or the Lamb over rice other than they looked great and our friends polished off their plates. For desert we split a small piece of baklava. It was lightly sweet and made with orange blossom reduction instead of honey, very tasty but not quite as good as the baklava at Layla though we like Mazza better overall. Atmosphere: 3.9 This location is small, intimate and modest. The one on 9th and 9th is much larger and more elaborate but we like it cozy. Service: 5 Total: 4.3 Date worthy???: Yes, there is something great about going on a date to a place with such delicious food and only a few tables. Its the next best thing to a private table for two. Server name: Jody Martinez, this guy is why the service is a 5 of 5. Overall great personality, very helpful and knowledgable.
