Napishtu; it feels like a whisper to say and it means breath of life in Akkadian, that divine clockwork we call the soul. The last time it tumbled over of someones lips in casual conversation was probably almost 2000 years ago. The language died. Like thousands of languages already extinct. Like the ones that die every day. Outlived, outloved and replaced by sparkling newer ones. I like searching for extinct words - for which there are no English equivalent - and breathing them back to life for a few moments.
