Narendra Modi in tears after Patna visit PATNA: Less than a week after six people were killed in the October 27 serial blasts in Patna during BJPs rally, Narendra Modi was back in Bihar on Saturday to meet the families of the victims - a visit that sparked off strong reactions from the ruling JD(U) and other parties which accused the BJPs PM nominee of playing a political stunt. The Gujarat CM stayed away from any political talk and said he stood by the victims families in their hour of grief. On behalf the BJP, he handed over cheques of Rs 5 lakh to each of the victims families. Modi visited four villages in different districts. He couldnt visit Gopalganj and Supaul due to fog, but spoke to the victims families on phone. Modi sat on the ground at the house of Raj Narain Singh in Kamarji, 30km from Patna, as the victims widow narrated to him how her husband attended the rally despite running high fever, ignoring her pleas. Singhs eldest son Vinod Kumar Singh demanded a job for his son. We are with you for ever, Modi said. The Gujarat CM was literally in tears when a crying Manoj Kumar, inghs younger son who is in the Army and posted Baramullah, said: My father had gone to see you. Now, you are our guardian. Modi touched the feet of Singhs 95-year-old mother Ramapati Devi. Security was tight around Modi with NSG commandos, CRPF and Bihar police besides a special contingent of Gujarat police maintaining several layers of security. Modis last and the longest stop was Ahiyapur, 35 km from the district headquarters of Nalanda - the home district of his archrival and chief minister Nitish Kumar. The Gujarat CM met the family members of 23-year-old Rajesh Kumar who was killed in the serial blasts. Speaking to reporters at Patna airport, Modi praised the courage of the people of Bihar in the face of the serial blasts which failed to disrupt the rally and didnt result in any stampede that could have claimed more lives. Never before had I seen such a huge number of people showing such an exemplary patience even while bombs were exploding in their midst. Nitish was quick to take a dig at the visit of his Gujarat counterpart. The people who purchased brooms on Dhanteras will use the same to sweep away the garbage being brought from outside and make their homes and state clean, he said on the sidelines of a function of the energy department. The Congress and RJD called Modis visit a political stunt and asked the Gujarat CM if he ever visited the families of those killed in the 2002 post-Godhra riots. When Modi didnt visit families of those killed in the Gujarat riots, why is he visitng the victims families of Patna blasts? RJD general secretary Ramkripal Yadav asked.
