National Conference Vs. Born To rule Mentality of the North (Part - TopicsExpress

National Conference Vs. Born To rule Mentality of the North (Part 3). Surprisingly, we have read in part one and two the history how the North cleverly grabbed the control of the Military and the political power due to the carelessness and political miscalculations of the leaders from the South, we have seen how the North in most cases talked of the region’s interest more than the interest of the entity called Nigeria, they behaved as if apart from the interest of the North, the so-called National interest was and probably still a marginal issues today, the Oracle will take a look at the Northern interest, what is it that controls the aims and objectives of the left over of Othman Dan Fodio dream to deep the Quran into the Atlantic Ocean which was stopped by Ibadan Warriors after the fall of Oyo Empire and was prematurely put on hold with years of British colonization? The above will be based on religion, tradition and culture of selfish political manipulation, meaning, the loyalty of Nigeria can only be ascertained as long as the North is in control, playing second fiddle makes an average Northerner uncomfortable, which will or probably expose it’s inadequacies in a society controlled with western education, the region despite the monthly huge resources taken from the National purse has failed to invest in western education unlike the states from the South of Nigeria, they have used their control of political power to create unviable states that will forever be parasites to the national government, states without schools enrollments got more local governments than those in the South, instead of facing the western world for motivation and direction in the 21st century on how to move Nigeria of their dream forward, the North thinks and respects the feudal systems of the Arab world which deprieved women and children the same freedom alien to other Nigerians tribes in the South. Given the options, to pick between the Constitution of Nigeria and the Quran, the choice of the North, is certain, it will be the Holy Book, a vast land controlled with loyalty to laws of Allah, doctored by the unseen hands of the Emirs and Sultan of Sokoto, than the laws of man in a secular society, meaning, what drives the North is not going to be the same with those in the South of Nigeria, more like mixing oil and water, or comparing apples with oranges, it is never going to work. But the North had a problem, how to keep the middle Belt or the verse minorities in its perpetual control, which years of British colonization had been freed from the control through religion, the Oracle wrote on this several years ago “Middle Belt the strength of North is going away” I may have to repost this article here for readers. Born to rule mentality was a creation of the South because the region failed to study the North or call for separation in 1960, those with a bit of the History will understand, Rhodesia issues which evolved to Zambia and Zimbabwe countries in the Southern parts of Africa, such procedure would have been the right step for Nigeria, but Awolowo and Azikiwe were pipe dreamers, they wanted to get water out stones, both wanted to create fishes like Jesus Christ did out of the few, they forget not all dreams could come true, you cannot build something on nothing, Lord Denis said, the law must never be used to support illegality of any contract, not just contract even ideas, Awolowo and Azikiwe failed to understand history of their people i.e. Yoruba, attitude of laize faire live and let live and Igbo Republican mentality, as compared to the North ideology controlled by the Religion of Islam and feudal system, until their deaths both of them, sadly never woke up from the dream of a United Nigeria despite repeated deaths and frustrations of millions of the youths from the south. Late Bob Marley said How long shall they kill our prophets and we just stand aside and look how long will the dreams of the Southern youths be put on hold before the North can transition its own dream to that of Nigeria dream? How long? 53 years from 1960, 100 years from 1914-2014 , or another 100 years more till 2114? The Oracle is asking readers HOW LONG? The Nigeria system had to create Federal characters, to hire less qualified Northerners at the detriment of those from the South, most Southerners had to wait in line while the North eats from the Eugene tables, Clement Oni one of the contributors mentioned his experience during the NYSC about jobs waiting for fellows while he and his colleagues from the South will have to scramble for the crumbs after the end of the service, it was not a made up story, after serving in the North, most corpers often comeback to ask if Nigeria dream will ever be real or just a pipe dream of Azikiwe and Awolowo, why would the so-called Awolowo the master strategist and Azikiwe the eloquent writer with American education be so naive to mix oil with water and expecting to get a result that will in future blend the people of in the South of Sahara as one? The waiting for benefits of the union is killing, and very frustrating, which is why people are questioning the rationale behind the 1914 Amalgamation of Northern and Southern protectorates createdby the British, the result of the game is ever prologed, it is like watching a boring movie without ending. The freedom from the Born to rule mentality actually got destroyed or cracked by General Sanni Abacha a Northerner in his drive to control power, when he kicked out Dansuki, the Sultan of Sokoto, it was strange and the control of the North was broken with six zones creation in Nigeria, it freed the middle Belt from the apron of the North and the” Born to rule” control was limited to the two regions i.e. North West and North East. For the first time the fear of the North was real in the election of President Goodluck Jonathan to replace the dying President Yar Adua, it was strange how the North behaved like a spoilt child, with everyone pleading with the region to understand the simple lines of the constitution i.e. in a civilized society that when a president dies in office or sick, his deputy must take over, like a kid, the region was weeping like a kid deprived of candies and those from the South were wondering which part of the world did these people come from? Some funny Northern leaders all of sudden wanted the constitution to be amended to accommodate the interest of the North against the national interest, Arewa, Northern Elders, etc became the driving force and you wonder if those leaders ever went to school, they did, but the type of education they had never freed their minds from “Born to rule mentality. The Oracle saw how Atiku, IBB and others talked only of Northern interest and you wonder if the Presidency they were talking about was for all Nigerians or those in the North alone but Nigerians in their wisdom elected the Dr. Jonathan to spite the North. However, President Jonathan failure to perform in office is a let down to the people who voted for him just to be freed from “Born to rule mentality” but his failures are not self-made alone, the North like the Republicans in the United States of America worked days and nights for his failure, they created Boko Haram or failed to openly condemn it, they used the policy of manipulation to grab important positions without merit, which is why a man with a master’s degree in Sharia Law from a University controlled by Islamic radical in Sudan would be appointed Governor of Central Bank and he could not see anything wrong in donating the CBN money like MKO Abiola to his state of origin, it all bothers on the type of education. President Jonathan, rights to run for second term must not be questioned based on rotation, or weakened by the Born to rule mentality but on performance, he is too careful to take decision that could affect a serious change, the Oracle recommended EPS but the political leaders including the INEC looked the other way, the system may produce a different President in 2015, but it is not going to be the same control for the North again, it is over, like I wrote, in the past, if General Buhari becomes the President like the APC is scheming, he must trend the journey gently, otherwise he will be treated like Ex-President Morsi of Egypt. What is the future of the North deprived of Born to rule mentality in a new Nigeria free from religion and cultural control? Are the Igbo the first to push ahead while others are still pulling the North along in journey that is becoming too long for the new generation? Will it be okay for the North to stay within the corporate entity called Nigeria or move on? If the option is to move on, will it include the middle Belt or just NE and NW? Or it is over for the North and they will have to drop the conservative ideas for liberalism in the areas of religion and culture and face the competition in the new system the Northern Youths will find themselves? The Oracle will be concluding the rest of this article this week. Zents Sowunmi is a New York based writer, his book new book “The Vultures and Vulnerable” will be out in the first quarter of 2014
