National; Counter attack-FC kills 6 suspects. Six suspected militants have been killed in a clash with paramilitary troops in Dera Bugti. According to a spokesperson for the Frontier Corps (FC), a group of militants attacked a checkpoint of the paramilitary force in the Maat area of Dera Bugti on Sunday.  “Although they managed to escape after FC personnel returned fire, the paramilitary force launched a counter-attack and cornered the attackers in the Durnajan area,” he said. “Six militants, including their commander, were killed in the subsequent exchange of fire.” While the slain militants could not be identified, the FC spokesman claimed that paramilitary troops recovered two Kalashnikovs, 13 rifles and around 30kg of explosives from them. According to him, the militants were involved in terror activities in and around Dera Bugti. FC Inspector General Ubaidullah Khan Khattak praised his force for the counter-attack. “The FC must carry out raids against criminals and importers of explosive materials,” he said, adding that the force should not focus on just one particular area or group. Three killed in violence At least three people, including a Balochistan levies official, were killed in other violence in the volatile province. According to sources, gunmen opened fire on a levies contingent in the Bisma area of Kharan district, killing one official and injuring two others. The attackers managed to escape, while the casualties were shifted to a nearby hospital. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Separately, a man was killed following a failed kidnapping bid in the Satellite Town neighbourhood of Quetta. According to police, gunmen tried kidnap Haji Umer at gunpoint and killed him after he tried to resist their attempt. Another man was gunned down by gunmen in the Eastern Bypass area of Quetta.TET.
